Characters with or without spaces - and why it matters

Different platforms count differently, so the tool shows both totals. Twitter and most social fields count spaces and punctuation; some academic and print word-count requirements ask for characters excluding spaces. Emoji and many non-Latin characters can also count as more than one unit in systems that measure by bytes or UTF-16 code units, which is why a caption that looks short can still be rejected - the counts here help you see it coming.
